Musketeer Miniatures Dark Ages Range

Musketeer Miniatures make a smallish but nice range of Dark Ages figures. They concentrate on two main areas, the early Anglo-Saxon/Romano-British/Arthurian era, and the East with Byzantines and Arabs. There is also a colourful blog with plenty of excellent photos of the Company's figures. Distribution is handled by Gripping Beast so orders should arrive quickly and accurately!

The sculpts are well posed with some nicely animated leader and personality figures in particular. Weapons and shields are separate, with shields included in the pack.

Curteys Miniatures Dark Ages range

Curteys Miniatures have recently released the first of their new Arthurian range. As the name suggests, these figures are suitable for the "Age of Arthur" and there are both Romano-British and Early Saxons available so far.

The castings are nice and crisp with plenty of well-defined detail. They required very little cleaning up of flash. The examples that I have came with the spears moulded in one piece with the figure and separate shields were included in the pack. I believe some figures have weapons and hands moulded as a separate piece and have to be glued to the wrist. Curteys believe this is the best way for hands to get a good grip of the weapon!

Gripping Beast Metal Dark Ages Range

As well as Plastic figures, Gripping Beast also produce a large range of Dark Ages miniatures in metal.

Whether you are looking for Vikings, Saxons, Normans, Arthurian, character figures or virtually anything else for this period, there will be something for you!

The figures are nicely sculpted with many varied and interesting poses. Weapons and shields are supplied with the miniatures except for spears which need to be bought separately. I have also found the service to be very good, with accurate orders arriving speedily!
